In today’s society, many people are consumed with life in such a way that they rarely have time to stop and take a look at what’s happening around them.

If they did, they might notice that things are not as bad as they appear. This too shall pass and for most, they will be alright, the storm will cease. But for some, the perils of poverty, hunger, homelessness, and despair will be a perpetual reality. We work diligently to provide a comprehensive solution that’s tailored to the needs of each person we encounter. One that not only supports an individual or family for a short time, but that gives them the tools they need to become independent, thriving citizens of our community. With a helping hand, we believe anyone can have a better quality of life.

We challenge you to get involved with the Society. You can do something as small as donating your gently used goods, or something as big as becoming a Vincentian volunteer; donating your time, treasure and talents to the cause.

You will be amazed at how helping others has a way of transforming you. Witnessing the challenges of those much less fortunate and their strength to persevere nevertheless, is one of the chief reasons our volunteers continue to work with people in need in their local community.

There are many ways that you can get involved with the Society.

You can

  • Become a Vincentian Volunteer at St. James Parish
  • Donate money, clothes, household items, and/or your used vehicle.
  • Volunteer at “The Daily Bread” every Sunday at 3:00PM in the Church Basement
  • Conduct a food/coat/school supplies drive at your child’s school or at work.
  • Adopt a family for Christmas.
  • Help collect and assemble Thanksgiving Baskets.
  • Participate in our Annual Events: the Golf Classic in the summer or the Friends of the Poor Walk in the fall.
  • Join a committee that focuses on helping us get our message to the broader Long Island community.

We welcome you and your family to explore our participatory options as well as any new ideas that you have, and we thank you for your interest.

We hold monthly meetings in the Parish Center at St. James Parish, 429 Rt. 25a, Setauket NY 11733
